Lanterns of Love

Lanterns of Love

For five years, together, we have stood strong for Ball’s Bridge and Little Lakes. Thanks to your generosity and commitment, we’ve come so far.

Now, we are at the final stretch. The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) hearing begins again this December, and has been extended by an extra 10 days to allow FOBBLL to fairly present our case so that all sides to this story can be heard— this is pushing all of our costs higher than ever. We now need to raise $75,000 more to see this through.

We never imagined we’d have to ask again, but this is it — our last chance to protect the Ball's Bridge and Little Lakes area. We are so close to the end, and so close to winning.

On Saturday, October 4 at 5:00 p.m to 8:30 pm., we invite you to Ball’s Bridge for Lanterns of Love.

Each lantern will shine as a symbol of hope, community, and determination. Donations of $20 and up will get a lantern-increasing in size and value for larger donations and every lantern is yours to take home as a keepsake of this extraordinary journey we’ve taken together.

The Lanterns will be used to "Light Up the Bridge that Love Built" and symbolize the wishes of our community to keep this special place AS IT IS for all to enjoy today and for future generations.

MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE: https://smallchangefund.ca/.../protect-little-lakes-area.../

A donation gets you a lantern AND a charitable tax receipt.
THE DEADLINE TO GET A LANTERN WITH YOUR DONATION IS FRIDAY SEPT 26th- (We cannot guarantee a lantern if you do not make a donation in advance)

The lantern is yours to take home!

$20=Small

$50=Medium

$100 +=Large

$500 +=Extra large

Lanterns will be at the Bridge for pick up and lighting that evening.
(Photo in advertisement is a graphic representation of the lanterns, lanterns may vary from this image)

THERE WILL BE LIVE MUSIC FOR ALL TO ENJOY!
Yola Beru

Ben Bootsma
and MORE!

Let’s fill the “Bridge That Love Built” with light, gratitude, and love — and show that our community will not give up.

With heartfelt thanks,

  • Google Calendar ICS

Hello all! We would love to see you all for a fun filled afternoon and evening that will be happening on Saturday July 22 at Balls Bridge and Little Lakes Area.

This event is to invite EVERYONE to, to bring us together as a community of people that care about preserving this beautiful area that we all treasure so much. We must step up and show our concern by being active participants of these types of events to show that the Little Lakes area is NOT a place for a gravel mine!

The event is called "Art Hike, Lights and Open Mic" and is a celebration of the beauty and natural wonder of the area, and to help fight to protect it from a proposed gravel mine- Let's make sure they don't haul our future away. When we come together as a community we can fight this, but it takes all of us!

The event will begin at 4 pm:

- between 4-7 pm there will be a self guided "ART HIKE" with prints by local artist Elizabeth Van Den Broeck all the way along Little lakes rd to the Bridge to her home.

- from 5-6 pm - "Nature Bingo" for children: they will have a bingo card and discover different "natural wonders" along the way on their walk to check off on their cards

- 6 pm BBQ at Balls Bridge- lots of goodies for all! Please bring cash for this.

- 7 pm-9 pm - "Open Mic" live music starting on the banks of the Maitland River by the Bridge- WE WELCOME ANY ONE WITH MUSICAL ABILITY to come and play/sing a song or 2 - SEE NEXT POST if you would like to select a time to perform for us all (note that there is no power so this is an acoustic open mic event)

- at 9 pm we will have a Bridge Lighting Ceremony - ALL ARE WELCOME TO COME LIGHT CANDLES on the Bridge AND MAKE A WISH FOR THE FUTURE OF THE EARTH AND THE LITTLE LAKES AREA

- you are welcome to stay and take photos and be part of this amazing event!

Thank you once again for your support and we look forward to seeing you on July 22. PLEASE SHARE AND INVITE EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

PARKING: please park on the WEST SIDE of Ball's Bridge on Little Lakes Rd

BUG SPRAY- we hope that the bugs will be minimal by July but please come prepared.
